The sound is just average but you can run your sound (DVD or VCR source) through a receiver to get better fidelity. The picture is very good and you do get front A/V inputs. Toshiba noted for their brilliant Projection TV sets makes good tube TV sets as well. This is a very basic set but it is well worth the price. It looks great with a DVD source.

Now to discuss the remote, which is great, complete with convenient sleep, channel return, favorite channel, mute, menu, tv/video and caption/text buttons (2 AAA batteries come included). I bought this TV for my little brother who has Playstation and N64, so I thought having the audio/video input in the front would be convenient. Secondly there are only a few button features on the TV itself, the power button, volume up and down, channel up and down. There is no output hookup source, so you cannot connect big speakers to the TV or anything like that. The picture is fabulous, but that's the only highlight of the product.
One downfall is that the TV frame is rather thin, only about 4 inches deep, but then the casing that holds the picture tube in the TV sticks out another 12 inches in back of the TV. The audio / video input is located on the front of the TV (only the front). First off, the speakers are in the back of the TV, however you will have no problem hearing the TV, in fact you can hear the TV at volume level 5. This is a high quality, cable ready picture for a cheap price, but there are no extras or frills to make this product stand out. the TV goes up to volume level 50.
It only allows for video and only the left audio channel (not left and right), making your input mono sound.
The minimal design is nice (there's not much but screen to see from the front), but with the speaker holes relegated to the back, the sound is bad.
However, this TV is a toshiba which makes excellent tv's and may eventually be worth the price. You can connect your PC speakers also to it and have great sound. However both of them are good deals, and you cant go wrong with either one This is not a bad tv, but you can get by cheaper than this with a comparable tv. I would recommend the Phillips 19pS40c, it costs a little less but it has a microphone input in the front as well as the AV. I bought the toshiba and returned it for the phillips.
